Accessibility
A usable site for more Vermont families
The site is designed toward WCAG 2.2 AA and is tested after meaningful changes.
Current design commitments
The site uses semantic headings, labeled form controls, visible keyboard focus, skip navigation, readable contrast, responsive layouts, text-based errors, and content that remains usable when zoomed.
- Keyboard-operable navigation and accordions
- No autoplay audio or video
- No color-only status messages
- Plain-language labels and instructions
- Reduced-motion support
Testing scope
Review includes keyboard operation, screen-reader structure, 200% zoom, contrast, mobile layouts, validation errors, reduced motion, and slow-network behavior. The active contact process must include an accessible way to report a barrier.
Ongoing improvement
Accessibility is maintained through template controls, content review, regression checks, and prompt correction of verified barriers. Third-party services must also be assessed before they are added.
